24 June 2022
The Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, Larysa Gerasko has thanked the people of Limerick for the generosity and welcome they have shown to the Ukrainian people seeking protection in Ireland.
Ambassador Gerasko made her comments on a visit to Limerick early this week where she met with some of the community groups and agencies (including Limerick Civil Defence) who are responding to the needs of the Ukrainians while in Limerick. Around 1,150 Ukrainian people are currently staying in Limerick in a variety of accommodation centres, tourist accommodation, student accommodation and with host families.
During a conversation with Limerick Civil Defence Officer, Cecilia O’Flaherty and 3rd Officer, Rob O’Leary, Ambassador Gerasko expressed her gratitude from the Ukrainian people for the efforts and services being provided for those who needed them in Limerick.
