Kilkenny Civil Defence Search Operation – Kilkenny City

Kilkenny Civil Defence was deployed to Kilkenny City on Tuesday night 25th February by the Gardaí seeking assistance in the search for a missing person. Civil Defence provided boat crews and 22 volunteers in a search of the river Nore and surrounding areas, assisted by the Gardaí, Kilkenny Sub Aqua Club and a Coastguard Helicopter until 2am.

The search resumed on Wednesday morning, 26th February. 20 Civil Defence volunteers were joined by numerous voluntary river search rescue organisations until midnight. The body was recovered by divers on Thursday morning 27th February.

The Gardaí thanked Kilkenny Civil Defence for its professional and prompt response.
