On Sunday 29th July, Louth Civil Defence was activated by the Coastguard to assist in the search of the River Dee for a missing man.
Meath and Dublin Civil Defence were called in to assist in the search. Civil Defence personnel conducted a search of the south bank moving eastwards along the river. The search later moved to outbuildings and roadways from Riverstown Cross to the missing persons home at Butlerstown.
Following a meeting with Gardaí, Civil Defence Volunteers and Coast Guard personnel carried out a sweep search of fields in the vicinity of the missing persons home.
The body was recovered from the River Dee in the early afternoon, at which time search parties were stood down.
