Cork West Civil Defence – Bere Island Exercise, April 2012
16 April 2012
Cork West Civil Defence held a weekend skills camp on Bere Island on the weekend of 7-8 April 2012.
60 Volunteer members participated in the skills weekend, half of whom are new recruits.
Navy divers and Air Corps personnel interacted with the Civil Defence Volunteers to form a series of simulated training exercises designed to allow trainee members to see how they can improve their own reactions ahead of a real-life scenario.
A specialist first-response team was prepped on how to treat a casualty in a remote location in anticipation of the arrival of the Air Corps.
The foot-drill team were put through their paces by a member of the Skibereen-based Defence Forces.
