Wicklow Civil Defence – Ongoing Search Operation – February 2012

On Tuesday evening 14th February Wicklow Civil Defence were contacted by Gardaí to assist in a search for a missing man off Wicklow Harbour.
At 8am on Wednesday 15th February eight members of Wicklow Civil Defence Water Rescue Unit launched two RIBS at Wicklow Harbour to assist The Garda Water Unit and RNLI to commence a low tide search from Wicklow Harbour South to Wicklow Head. The search was called off at 2 pm to reconvene on Thursday morning. The Coast Guard Helicopter also searched the area
On Thursday 16th February the search resumed with members of the Garda Water Unit, Wicklow Civil Defence, RNLI , Wicklow Coast Guard , Coast Guard Helicopter and local walking clubs. The water search ceased at 15.00hrs.
On Saturday 25th February ten Wicklow Civil Defence members launched two ribs and searched the coastline from Wicklow Harbour North to Greystones and South to Mizen Head.
The Garda divisional Search Officer thanked Civil Defence Officer Michael Richardson and the Volunteer members for their cooperation with the search operation .
The man still remains missing.
