Civil Defence signs Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Road Safety Authority (RSA)

At a ceremony in Farmleigh House on the 18th November, Civil Defence signed an MOU with the RSA. The MOU was also signed by

· Defence Forces
· An Garda Síochána
· Irish Coast Guard
· Chief Fire Officer’s Association
· National Ambulance Service
· Irish Prison Service
· Pre Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC)

These organisations have been working together since 2011 to develop an Emergency Services Driving Standard. This voluntary standard is the first of its kind in Europe. It aims to promote safer driving of emergency vehicles. Civil Defence will commence rolling out the new standard in the coming months.
