Wicklow – Search for missing person Monday 9th May 2016

On Monday 9th May Wicklow Civil Defence was activated by An Garda Síochána to assist in the search for a male who was missing in the Lacken Village area at Blessington Lakes.
Support was requested from Dublin and Kildare Civil Defence units. Search crews from Wicklow and Dublin Civil Defence assisted the Gardaí with a land search along the shore and surrounding farmland. The land search was called off by the Gardaí on Monday evening. The search of the lakes was carried out by the Garda and Coast Guard Helicopters and boat crews.
At 1pm on Tuesday 10th May the body of the missing person was recovered by the Garda Underwater Unit. The Garda search manager praised and thanked the Civil Defence crews for their prompt response and professionalism
