Galway CD Inter Agency Exercise with Costelloe Bay Coastguard Unit

Some recent photos of an inter-agency training exercise between Galway Civil Defence and the Costelloe Bay Coastguard Unit.

This exercise was to familiarise both organisations with their roles in the search and recovery of a missing person at sea. This casualty was retrieved and recuscitation begun by the Coastguard, handed over to our ambulance crew who alongside Coastguard members continued recuscitation on the casualty, until handover to the Irish Coastguard Helicopter.

This was a great experience for our volunteers as well as the Coastguard volunteers as it further built team work, communication and a rapport with our friends in Costello Bay Coastguard.
