Galway River Cruiser Rescue
2 July 2020
On Sunday evening 28th June the Ballinasloe Civil Defence Boat Unit was tasked to assist a River Cruiser which encountered engine failure near the Moycarn Marina on the River Suck, Ballinasloe.
The Civil Defence Rib was launched from the slipway and on the scene 30 minutes after receiving the call from the Irish Coastguard. The crew found 6 persons on board on arrival, and despite the vessel having been blown onto the river bank there were no injuries reported.
Following an assessment of the vessel the decision was taken to tow it to the safety of Ballinasloe Marina.
The crew returned to base at approximately 5.45 pm having completed the successful recovery.
