The Chairman, Director General and Civil Defence Board members would like to take this opportunity to thank all Civil Defence members and staff of the Board for their magnificent service throughout 2012.
Civil Defence has provided much needed support to communities all over the country throughout the year. The efforts of the organisation in supporting the frontline services in responding to flood events, in searches for missing persons and many other operations and exercises throughout the year have rightly been recognised in the media, by statutory agencies, by the Government and by the public at large.
As the Civil Defence Bill is approaching the final stages of its journey through the Oireachtas this will almost certainly be the final Christmas greeting from the Civil Defence Board. We would like to take the opportunity, therefore, to thank everybody who gave their time and their efforts to past Boards and Committees of the Board in the service of Civil Defence since 2003.
During 2013, we look forward to the re-integration of Civil Defence back into the Department of Defence and the opportunities that this will bring to the Civil Defence organisation.
We would like to wish every member of Civil Defence and the staff of the Board a Merry Christmas and look forward to another successful year for the organisation in 2013.
