Civil Defence Severe Weather Relief Efforts, Feb/Mar 2020

19 February – to Date:

Civil Defence members in four units, utilising 4WD Vehicles, a High Axle Vehicle,  and other equipment have been activated to assist in the areas worst affected by flooding before and after Storm Jorge since 19^th February.

•  Clare Activated since 19^th February – Transporting isolated residents and essential provisions, including medication for residents in the Springfield estate in Co Clare, utilising High Axle Unimog Vehicle (loaned from Kerry Civil Defence).
• Cavan  Activated since 25^th February – Transporting isolated residents and essential provisions for residents from isolated areas in Lough Oughter area, peaking at 22 calls on Sunday 1^st March. The unit has made 17 daily calls on 2^nd and 3^rd March.
• Leitrim  Activated on 27^th February – Transporting essential medication to isolated elderly residents in isolated areas; monitoring flood waters in worst affected Carrick on Shannon area.
• Kerry Activated on 2^nd March – Transported residents from Residential Home in mountainous area, isolated due to heavy snowfall.
