Cork West – Missing Person Search, Enniskeane

An Garda Siochána at Divisional HQ in Bandon requested the assistance of Cork West Civil Defence on Sunday night 20th December to assist in the search for a 61 year old male reported missing in Enniskeane, Co Cork. The search commenced at 7.30am on 21st December, with Civil Defence providing search management, communications control, search responder teams, boat crews, swiftwater responders as well as three 4×4 vehicles and a minibus to the operation. The Inter-Agency effort also involved IRCG helicopter, inshore boat crews and search teams, Cork South Civil Defence, Irish Search Dogs, West Cork Underwater Search & Rescue, West Cork Kayaking Club and scores of local volunteers. The search effort was maintained for 12 days, with the body being recovered on 1st January. Civil Defence Volunteers provided a total of 1,745 hours of operational support to An Garda Siochána during this time.
