Donegal Drone Unit assist at Letterkenny Fire

On Saturday 29th July, Donegal Civil Defence Drone Unit was activated by Donegal County Council to provide aerial coverage of a fire that broke out at a refuse plant near Letterkenny town. The blaze broke out in the early hours of Saturday afternoon at a Refuse Recycling and Skip Hire Plant, which serves many areas of South and East Donegal. Letterkenny Fire Service was called to the plant at Big Isle near Mannorcunningham before extinguishing the fire. Civil Defence provided visual footage to the PRA’s in an effort to locate the seat of the fire.
One Drone Pilot, one No. 2 Operator and a Radio Operator attended the scene with the Incident Control Vehicle. Civil Defence was stood down at 8.30pm.
