Dunmanus Bay Search (Oct 10th-13th 2019)

Cork West Civil Defence were tasked by An Garda Síochána at 9am on 10th October to assist in the search for a missing fisherman in Dunmanus Bay, Co Cork.
Civil Defence drone and search response teams worked in conjunction with local IRCG units on shoreline searches, whilst Cork West boat crew and other search RIBs were tasked by LE George Bernard Shaw, on-scene maritime coordinator, to conduct specific search patterns.
The search area focused on Carbery Island, where wreckage from the fishing boat was discovered, and the southern shoreline of Dunmanus Bay, a coastal area extending over 6 miles.
Agencies involved were An Garda Siochana, Naval Service, IRCG, Civil Defence and RNLI, with CFT divers also supporting the NS dive team.
The body of the missing fisherman was found and recovered by divers at 5pm on Sunday 13th October.
