EMT Skills Training – Bere Island

The weekend of 26th – 27th May saw over 40 personnel from a range of agencies attend Bere Island for an Emergency Medical Techniciain (EMT) Skills training weekend. Members of Civil Defence, Irish Red Cross and Defence Forces participated, with an emphasis on teamwork and composure under pressure.
The training weekend was hosted by West Cork Civil Defence and comprised of educational lectures on different medical topics and skill stations on both Saturday and Sunday.
Civil Defence would sincerely like to thank the doctors from various emergency departments that made the weekend a huge success, Dr Tony Lynch, Dr Conor Deasy, Dr Jason Van Der Velde, and also AP Kieran Henry from National Ambulance Service Operations and AP Sgt Mick Meehan from the Defence Forces Medical School.
