Fleadh Cheoil, Sligo August 2014

The Fleadh was officially opened by President Michael D Higgins on Sunday after the Chairperson for the Fleadh Director of Service Bartley Gavin welcomed everyone to Sligo. There was a huge crowd in attendance. 20 Civil Defence volunteers provided First aid cover for the opening. Scoil Eigse commenced on Monday and will run until Friday. Civil Defence volunteers have set up the Communications centre and Medical centre and are providing Welfare facilities at the volunteer centre. There are 18-20 volunteers in attendance each day to provide these services and thankfully it has been reasonably quiet. The Fleadh will continue until Monday 18th August.
