All Ireland Fleadh 2015
25 August 2015
Record crowds attended the Comhaltas All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Sligo over the week of 9-16 August 2015. “Fleadh 2015 will rank as one of the great Fleadhanna of all time” according to Labhrás Ó Murchú, Ard Stiurthóir of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
An estimated 400,000 people attend the Fleadh this year with TG4 televising the event this year. Of the 2,000 volunteers who assisted at the Fleadh in various duties, 370 were Civil Defence volunteers from Sligo, Donegal, Cavan, Mayo, Roscommon and Galway. Civil Defence worked with the Order of Malta and the Red Cross, providing first aid cover right through the entire week of events.
All the assistance provided was very much appreciated by the organising committee and there were no major incidents to report.
The baton will be handed over to Noel Carmody and his Clare Unit in for Fleadh 2016.
