Annual Remembrance Mass & Presentation Night Mayo

This annual event took place in the Ellison Hotel on Wednesday the 27th November.
A mass for deceased members of Civil Defence and members of their families was celebrated by Rev Fr Conal Eustace PP Castlebar Parish. Following mass the presentation of certificates to members took place in the following areas:
• Cardiac First Responser – Community & Advanced
• First Aid Responder
• Emergency First Responder
• Personal Survival Techniques
• Manual Handling & Patient Moving
The following members where presented with long service medals:
Martina Duffy 20 years
Jimmy Maloney 20 years
Simon Lowe 10 years (not in attendance)
A number of volunteers were also promoted at the event to recognise their commitment & increasing skill set.
This event was attended by Cathaoirleach of the Castlebar Municipal District Cllr. Michael Kilcoyne who was representing the Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council Cllr Brendan Mulroy. In his address he acknowledged and praised the work of Mayo Civil Defence on behalf of Mayo County Council.
Ms Rose Doherty (CDO) addressed the gathering, outlining the training and activities that had taken place throughout the year and thanked all the volunteers for their continued support and commitment.
The evening concluded with a meal and social get together which was enjoyed by all.
