Clare Civil Defence – New York 2022

Fifteen members of Clare Civil Defence, accompanied by the Civil Defence Officer and the Chief Fire Officer, travelled to New York to participate in the New York St. Patrick’s Day parade. The group travelled at the invitation of the County Clare Patriotic, Benevolent & Social Association of New York City and marched under the banner of the association in the New York parade. Several other functions were attended by members of Clare CD, including a reception hosted by the Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr. PJ Ryan. A visit with the Fire Department of Yonkers Fire Department was also enjoyed by the group and this visit resulted in an invitation being extended to the Civil Defence members, by the Yonkers Fire Department, to march alongside the department in the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade held on Saturday March 19^th. The Civil Defence members were extended the warmest and friendliest of receptions wherever they were hosted, and a most memorable trip was enjoyed by all. Sincere appreciation is due to all who made this trip possible including Mr. Pat Dowling, Chief Executive of Clare County Council and Clare County Council.
