Cork South & Cork West Civil Defence – Béal na mBláth Commemoration – August 2012

South and West Cork Civil Defence were requested by the Department of Defence to provide assistance at the 90th Anniversary Commemoration of the death of Michael Collins at Beal na mBlath. The event was addressed by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and a number of Government Ministers were also in attendance. A large crowd, estimated at up to 5000 people was in attendance. There were 25 volunteers on duty providing assistance.

The Gardaí and a number of Government Ministers expressed their sincere gratitude to the Civil Defence volunteers on duty who were vital to the smooth running of the event.
