Dublin Civil Defence Flood Relief Efforts – February 2014
4 February 2014
Since Friday 31st January Dublin Civil Defence has been on standby for the high tides in the coastal areas. The unit is currently carrying out coastal patrols and checks on the upper Liffey and Dodder rivers where flood markers have been placed on bridges and at weirs.
Today, Tuesday 4th February is the fifth day of four-hour patrols of these areas. Four jeeps with a crew of two have been assigned to different sections of the patrol areas.
On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd February Civil Defence boat crews had Swift Water Rescue Technicians in dry suits ready to be deployed if called but they were stood down after each high tide receded.
