Kerry Forestry Rally

Kerry Civil Defence, alongside Irish Red Cross crews from Clonakilty and Cashel, provided five ambulances to the Killarney Forestry Rally on Sunday 20th February last. The event saw over 90 competitors enter into the rally over six stages.

Kerry Civil Defence Emergency Medical Technicians, followed by Paramedics from Kerry Civil Defence and an Advanced Paramedic from Galway Civil Defence attended an incident involving a single vehicle on stage 4. Our highly trained crews carried out resuscitation efforts to the best of their ability, obtaining a Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) on two occasions. The patient was later transported by Civil Defence ambulance to the crew of HeliMed 92 where he was transported by helicopter to Cork University Hospital.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of all pre-hospital practitioners and the staff at Cork University Hospital, the patient passed away later that evening. May he Rest in Peace.
