At 6.45pm on 2nd December a request was received from Carrick on Shannon Garda HQ to assist in the search for a fisherman reported missing on the Shannon, south of Roosky.

Malin Head Coastguard confirmed that mobile phone contact was made with an individual on a boat in this area , but that phone contact was lost. Leitrim Civil Defence Volunteers responded and a search was conducted by Boat in the Roosky area. At 8.15pm Volunteers located a 19ft Boat south of Roosky with a male on board. He was uninjured. His Boat was disabled and he had lost his oars.

Volunteers assisted the individual to return with his Boat to Roosky.
