Louth Civil Defence – Rescue Operation, Slieve Foy, July 2012
On Thursday 26th July, Louth Civil Defence was activated by Ambulance Control to assist in the rescue of a woman from the foot of Slieve Foy.
A rescue team of seven carried the woman, who had suffered a broken ankle, hand over hand on a basket stretcher over difficult terrain a distance of approximately 2 km to the HSE Ambulance.
The casualty was transferred to the HSE Ambulance within 1 ½ hours of the Civil Defence call out system being activated.
