Mayo Civil Defence Attends Coast Guard Training Session

4 members of Mayo CD attended Westport Coast Guard Station last Saturday 20th September 2014 at the invitation of their Officer in Charge to partake in Helicopter familiarisation and Winch training alongside Coast Guard Members.

Rescue 118 (Sligo) attended and the members received training in many aspects of Helicopter operations.

3 Civil Defence members and Coast Guard members then availed of the opportunity to fly on the helicopter over Croagh Patrick and Clew Bay. They were then winched back to the ground from approximately 100ft at Westport quay.

This event highlighted the great interaction between both organisations and was very beneficial to Civil Defence personnel.
