Laois Civil Defence – Bank Holiday Weekend Activities

A busy bank holiday weekend is coming to a close for Laois Civil Defence volunteers. Friday, Saturday and Sunday crews covered the Coillte Biking Blitz on the Slieve Bloom Mountains alongside volunteers from Offaly Civil Defence. Sunday the Boat Crews provided safety cover the Dragon Regatta on the River Barrow with Kildare Civil Defence.

Former Sligo Civil Defence Officer, Seán Kavanagh passed away on 28th April. Following requiem mass on Monday morning 1st May the funeral proceeded to St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Scarden for burial. President Biden’s visit to Louth

Volunteers from Louth Civil Defence were tasked on Wednesday 12th April to provide medical cover for the visit of President Joe Biden to Louth. They endured high winds and torrential rain for several hours providing a myriad of services to the public throughout the afternoon and evening including several medical emergencies.
