Roscommon – Rescue Operations

The Roscommon Civil Defence Boat Unit was called upon to assist in two separate incidents that took place on the River Shannon and Lough Ree on 22nd November. The first incident on the River Shannon involved a barge that was suffering intermittent engine difficulties, which resulted in the boat being escorted to Ballyleague.

As the crew continued on their routine patrol they were called to assist a second boat in Lough Ree that had suffered from engine failure. The crew assessed the situation at decided to tow the boat to Ballyleague.

There were no injuries reported in either incident.
