Sligo Civil Defence – River Moy Rescue
14 June 2016
Sligo Civil Defence volunteers returning from covering an event in Killala over the weekend were stopped by a passerby to respond to an incident at the Moy River in Ballina when a man had entered the water. The volunteers in attendance assessed the casualty who was partially submerged, breathing but unconscious. The man who had suffered a head injury was taken from the water and stretchered up the embankment to the footpath by Civil Defence members assisted by the Gardaí and handed over to the HSE Ambulance when it arrived on scene, at which time the casualty had regained consciousness.
Great work by all and a good outcome.
