Ex Hurricane Ophelia

Civil Defence Units countrywide are on standby to assist communities in the aftermath of Ex Hurricane Ophelia which is striking the country on Monday 16th October.
Civil Defence has approximately 3,500 active volunteers based in every Local Authority area in the country. The organisation has a wide range of equipment to deal with severe weather including 88 Boats, 47 Fire Tenders, 9 Floating Pontoon Units and 130 Four Wheel Drive vehicles.
Please note that Civil Defence is not a 999 service and is a support service to the Primary Response Agencies, namely the Local Authorities, the HSE , An Garda Síochána and the Coastguard Service.
