Inter Agency EMT Training – Bere Island

Last weekend saw over 25 Emergency Medical Technician’s descend upon Bere Island for a training weekend. This was an inter agency training weekend with members of the Civil Defence, Irish Red Cross, Defence Forces and West Cork Underwater Search & Rescue in attendance.

This initiative has been in place since 2013, with Cork West Civil Defence and the Irish Red Cross jointly co-ordinating two inter-agency events on a yearly basis. This training weekend was hosted by West Cork Civil Defence and comprised of educational lectures on different medical topics and skill stations on both Saturday and Sunday. Civil Defence would sincerely like to thank the Doctors that made this weekend a huge success, Dr Jason Van Der Velde, Dr Tony Lynch, Dr Conor Deasy and Dr Mary McCarthy.
