Joint Civil Defence & National Ambulance Service Training Pilot
7 April 2015
20 Trainee Paramedics successfully completed a new Manual Handling Operators Course at the National Ambulance College recently. This course was jointly developed by Civil Defence College and the National Ambulance Service. This 8 hour programme aims to streamline interagency skills between volunteers and paramedics working as teams in response to an incident.
The programme includes a range of quality assurance measures to confirm learner competence through use of Short Answer Exam Paper, multiple individual Risk Assessment Exercises and Skills demonstration through use of a range of objects. It is expected that the new programme will be rolled-out to all Civil Defence and National Ambulance Service Instructors in the coming months, supported by a learner’s micro-site on www.civildefence.ie
