Kerry Community & Voluntary Forum
21 March 2012
Following a review of the response to the severe weather of 2009/2010 in Kerry, which emphasised the good collaboration between the emergency services, the important role of the community sector in bridging the gap in local community provision was identified.
Kerry County Council hosted a ‘Kerry Community & Voluntary Forum’ on Friday 9th March to create greater awareness of the need to build community resilience and to share experience and knowledge.
The seminar offered an international, national and local perspective on how communities can partner the emergency services in responding to events such as severe weather, gorse fires, flooding and other emergencies.
Civil Defence Officer, Tom Brosnan delivered a very informative presentation on ‘The Kerry Experience’.
