Laois Flooding
22 November 2017
Laois Civil Defence has been active since early morning in Mountmellick, using 4WD vehicles to recover vehicles from flood waters and using boats to evacuate families from flooded homes from a housing estate on Manor Road.
Heavy rainfall last night in addition to water flowing down from the Slieve Bloom Mountains has caused the Owenass River, which runs through the town to completely burst its banks.
