Laois – Search & Rescue Operation, Slieve Blooms

Laois Civil Defence was activated by A Garda Síochána on Saturday afternoon, 27th June to assist in the search for an injured man who was out mountain biking in the well known area of Glenbarrow on the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
The local Mountmellick Civil Defence Unit rescue team was dispatched to the area and a Medical team was also called from the Durrow unit to assist in the rescue operation and to assist the H.S.E. Ambulance service who were also on scene.
At approximately 3.10pm the Injured man and his son was located near Glenbarrow Waterfall and was treated by the Ambulance Service and assisted by the volunteer crews from Mountmellick and Durrow units. The casualty was then transferred to a waiting Ambulance at Glenbarrow Car park for further medical attention.
