Leitrim Civil Defence – Search & Recovery Operation – January 2013

On Tuesday morning 8th January Leitrim Civil Defence responded to a request from Gardaí to assist in the search for a 27 year-old man reported missing in the Ballinamore area.
Following a review of CCTV recordings, a search team was tasked with a water-based search of the local Canal. At 11am the Civil Defence search team located a body in three metres of water using their Sonar and ROV equipment.
The Garda Water Unit arrived on site shortly afterwards and the remains of the man were recovered
