Meath Civil Defence – River Search – August 2012
On Wednesday 15th August Meath Civil Defence Officer – Michael Fitzsimons received a request from the Gardaí in Trim to initiate and coordinate a search on the river Boyne in the town. A number of people had reported a person missing whom it transpired had not been seen since the previous Thursday.
A boat crew was launched in the river at 4.30pm. Within forty minutes, the crew had located a body about 1Km downstream. The body was recovered from the river and identified as the reported missing person.
Civil Defence members including members of the boat crew attended the victim’s funeral on Monday 19th August and were thanked for their efforts in recovering the body by family members.
