First sod turned on site of new Meath Civil Defence HQ & Training Centre

Wednesday 8th May 2019 was another momentous day on the road to building the new Meath Civil Defence HQ and training centre when the Cathaoirleach and Chief Executive of Meath County Council turned the first sod on the site. Site development and building work will commence on Thursday 9th May.

Gorse Fires – Donegal

Today, Monday 22nd April at 11.21 hrs Donegal Civil Defence AFS Unit were activated by the Chief Fire Officer and Director of Services to respond to gorse fires in the Loughanure, Annagry areas of Donegal. Currently there is one Civil Defence Fire appliance and 12 Person crew responding.
Missing Aircraft Exercise

Dublin Civil Defence held a major exercise with 71 Volunteers and 9 from CRS Northern Ireland. Great to see two different organizations work together in a very tough and cold environment. Special thanks to all of the support team especially the Welfare Team for a very welcome hot curry.
Laois Civil Defence – Trauma Challenge Success
9 April 2019
Saturday 6th April proved a great day for the Laois Civil Defence trauma team, at their first Rescue Org Ireland challenge in Sligo. The team comprising of Damien Dollard (Paramedic) and Fergal Graham (EFR) won the best Voluntary Emergency Service award and was placed 2nd in the overall trauma section.
Joint Exercise with CRS
1 April 2019
Dublin Civil Defence had a two day joint training exercise with the Community Rescue Service N.I. (CRS) on the River Bann in Coleraine Co.Derry. A very worthwhile exercise using both our Sonar systems and looking forward to working with this group of Volunteers again.
