Modex Exercise – Wicklow

On Thursday 26th March, Civil Defence volunteers from Dublin, Meath, Wicklow and Kildare units participated in Ireland’s first EU Civil Protection Mechanism Modex training exercise in Wicklow. The large scale urban search and rescue training simulated a wildfire near Turlough Hill, bringing together over 100 responders from Ireland and across Europe to test emergency preparedness.
Civil Defence participation included,
(i) using drones to provide real-time information to decision makers
(ii) members from Kildare and Meath cooked a hot meal for the 100 Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel
(iii) members from Dublin set up a Body Holding Facility in Wicklow Town and and Evacuation Rest Centre in Roundwood
