National Coordination Group on Severe Weather Public Information – 14/01/2015

The current wintery weather will give way to a spell of stormy and wet weather this evening. Met Éireann have issued Orange level weather warnings for the coastal areas from Donegal around to Wexford, with the wind picking up from 18:00 this evening until noon tomorrow (Thursday).  Wind (mean speed) of 80 Km/h, and gusts up to 130 Km/h, are expected in the worst affected areas, which will be the coastal counties of the North West and West (Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway and Clare).

The public are asked to monitor Met Éireann forecasts for their area and to be aware of the weather conditions and to heed safety warnings. The travelling public are encouraged to monitor road conditions as well as transport operators services over national and local radio/tv, websites and social media for possible impacts. The various Public Authorities and utilities are monitoring the situation as it develops and are also providing information over their websites, social media and public broadcasters on any possible impacts to services.
