Presentation by Rescue Diver – Jim Warny
6 November 2018
Clare Civil Defence hosted a most enjoyable and comprehensive presentation delivered by Rescue Diver, Jim Warny on Monday evening, 5th November.
Mr Warny provided a comprehensive and fascinating insight into the mammoth efforts undertaken in Northern Thailand last July to rescue the school boys soccer team and their coach. The evening was attended by almost 100 people consisting of Civil Defence volunteers from Clare, Limerick and Cork City; Clare County Fire & Rescue Service; An Garda Siochána; Ennis Sub-Aqua Club; Rescue 3 Europe; and a local Scout Unit. Following an hour long presentation, Mr Warny engaged in a Q&A session for a further 40 minutes.
The evening was a great success with all of the participants thoroughly enjoying Mr Warny’s humour and humility. A presentation of a diver’s watch was made to Mr Warny by Clare Civil Defence on behalf of all those attending.
