Roscommon Civil Defence Search Operation 28th September 2021

Roscommon Civil Defence was requested activated by An Garda Síochána, Castlerea just before lunch time on Tuesday 28th September to assist in the search for a missing person in the Castlerea (Demesne area) in County Roscommon. During the response various assets of the organisation were deployed to assist in the search operation including Search Managers, search team Boat crew, Drone Pilots and ground search teams plus the Mobile Communications unit was en route to the incident.
As the volunteers were assembling for a briefing with local Gardaí scheduled for 2:30 pm news broke of the location of the missing person in the vicinity of a local river that runs through the Castlerea Demesne.
Members of Roscommon Civil Defence and one including a Civil Defence EMT, Liam Scahill assisted, providing medical assistance to the casualty prior to the arrival of National Ambulance Service road ambulance and aero medical support from the Athlone based helicopter team. At this point Mayo Civil Defence who were also on route with Drone and a ground search team to assist in the afternoon’s response.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
