Roscommon – Missing Person Search

The Gardaí requested assistance from Roscommon Civil Defence at 13:27pm on Saturday 21st May to search for a missing person, believed to be in the Shannon at Tarmonbarry County Roscommon. At 1400 hrs their boat was launched in Ballyleague and subsequently contacted the Irish Coast Guard giving their T.R report.
The search covered the following areas: north of Lock gate up to the road bridge, the island area and a moored cruiser. The search continued south of the Lock and proceeded to the Camlin river entrance searching northward towards the weir and Lock gates. At 16.10pm, approximately 200 yards north of river entrance, the missing person was located at 16:10pm.
The body was recovered and transported to Roscommon County Hospital.
