Roscommon Search Operation, 4th April 2021
6 April 2021
Roscommon Civil Defence was activated by An Garda Síochána on Easter Sunday morning, specifically seeking deployment of the Drone to assist in the search for a missing person in the Brideswell area of South Roscommon.
Following preparation of flight plans and follow up flights in the locality, some areas of interest were identified for a ground search team to follow up on. Meanwhile a ground search team was also activated to respond to the Community Hall to assist in the search operation. A hasty search was conducted by Civil Defence, Gardaí from Roscommon and Clonark and family members. Searches continued until lunch time.
While the morning’s search operation was being updated on the Map YX search system, Gardaí received information of a possible location of the missing person. Unfortunately, a recovery operation was carried out by Gardaí and Roscommon Civil Defence members.
