Sea Search, West Cork August 2014

Cork West Civil Defence assisted the Coastguard and the RNLI in the search for three missing sailors on the morning of Thursday 14th August.

Two of the missing sailors swam to shore and spent the night on an island after an accident. The Shannon based Helicopter Rescue 117 lifted the casualties and took them to Baltimore for further medical attention.

Lifeboat crews recovered the body of the third sailor off Sherkin Island at about 8.20am.
